In Writer’s Workshop, students revised the lead to their story. Students learned that a lead is the beginning or introduction to the story. A good lead hooks readers from the beginning and makes them excited to continue reading. The six types of leads students learned about were: action, snapshot (descriptive), sound effect, question, flashback, and talking.
After I modeled how to revise my lead three different ways, students were to do the same. Finally they picked their best lead and added it to their rough draft.
