This week in Writer's Workshop students are beginning to write an expository essay on what they are thankful for. Final copies will be sent home for students to share with their families on Thanksgiving!
Today children began this assignment by brainstorming on post-it notes what they are grateful for in small groups. We discussed that although we are lucky to have televisions, computers, and video games we need to think about what really means the most to us.
After a couple of minutes the post-it piles were quite tall! Next groups had to organize their notes into categories. Some groups sorted their post-its into: people, animals, objects, and being healthy.
The final task for today was to complete the graphic organizer.
