This past week in Writer's Workshop, students have been writing the final copy of their drafts. On Friday, they thought about what they will title their story. Students learned that many authors title their books after the main character, a place in the story, or a quote from the book. In groups, students searched our classroom library for book titles that fit into one of these three categories.
Next they recorded the titles into the appropriate columns.
At the end of the investigation they wrote down three possible titles for their own story and selected their favorite. Before turning in their final copy, students completed the cover of their story.
